STATEMENT FOR RACIAL EQUALITY

We at Girlfriends in God believe that racism is sinful and dishonors God. We believe that Jesus loves all races, nationalities, and ethnicities equally because we are all created in His image to glorify His name. We also believe that all people are born into sin (Romans 3:23) and in need of salvation through Jesus Christ (Romans 10:13). We believe that the ground is level at the foot of the cross and no person or people group is superior to another (Galatians 3:28).

Girlfriends in God rejects racism and its expression in every form, both personal and systemic. Our passion is to cross generation, denominational, and racial boundaries to bring the body of Christ together as believers.

Our foundation is the inerrant Word of God, from which we base our world view. Our mission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to disciple and encourage women from all walks of life. Our purpose is unity through the blood of Christ. As believers, our paths may vary, but they all lead a common destination…the cross.

Jesus prayed, “My prayer is not for them (the disciples) alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you” (John 17:20-21 NIV emphasis added). We bow our heads and bend our knees with Jesus’ prayer for unity among believers around the world.

Jesus commanded, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another” (John 13:34, ESV). We strive to follow Jesus’ command to love one another–every race and ethnicity as Jesus has loved us.

We at Girlfriends in God vow to listen to every story of those who are on the receiving end of racial injustice and stand with them in solidarity and unity as co-heirs with Christ and co-image bearers of God.

“And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Mi. 6:8)
