Girlfriends in God began in 1996 when Sharon Jaynes, Gwen Smith, and Mary Southerland locked arms to encourage women in their walk with Christ. The foundation of GiG was built on 1 Thessalonians 2:8: “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”

Sharon, Gwen, and Mary have a passion to cross generational, racial, and denominational boundaries to bring the Body of Christ together as believers. In this current culture of division, they feel this calling even more.

The ministry began with daily devotions and Girlfriends in God conferences. As the years passed, they invited other amazing, published authors to the writing team. Readers often say, “I feel like your devotion was written just for me!” That’s because we are just like you! We’re going through the similar struggles, and depend on the same Savior.
